CannaBusiness Business Development Program Overview

At Uplift Maryland, we strive to increase diversity and inclusion within Maryland’s emerging medical cannabis industry, ensuring our community has an opportunity to participate in the economy of the future.

Our diverse team is passionate about empowering minority communities through education and economic opportunity - from patient, caregiver, and/or provider registration to assisting cannapreneurs with starting and branding their business.

For decades, African Americans and Latinos have been disproportionately affected by the War on Drugs. Now that cannabis is a legitimate and lucrative industry, Uplift Maryland aims to ensure that communities most harmed by failed drug policies are exposed to the various entrepreneurship and employment opportunities it provides. Our mission is to End the Stigma by educating and training our community for the future.

Uplift Maryland is the trusted source of information for navigating all aspects of the medical cannabis industry in Maryland. In 2018, we were awarded one of five grants by the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) to develop and implement an education and business development training program designed for small, minority, and woman business owners and entrepreneurs interested in becoming licensed in the medical cannabis industry. Uplift Maryland was also just awarded a contract to develop curriculum for the MMCC’s Dispensary Agent Training Program.

As we move into 2020, and toward cannabis legalization, the time is now to prepare for the future. This course will walk you through starting your business with topics like industry opportunities, filing and registration, business planning, marketing techniques, industry best practices, and financing, banking, accounting and taxes.
