THE MARYLAND MEDICAL CANNABIS COMMISSION (MMCC) IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE FIVE GRANT AWARDS to educational and business development organizations to develop Medical Cannabis Educational and Business Development Training Programs. Each awardee was selected following a competitive grant application process.

The grants for the training programs were established by the Natalie M. LaPrade Medical Cannabis Reform Act (House Bill 2/Chapter 598), enacted by the Maryland General Assembly in 2018, and are designed to provide training and assistance to small, minority, and women business owners and entrepreneurs seeking to become licensed in the medical cannabis industry in the State. The courses will be offered free of charge beginning in January 2019, with both in-person and online training available. Interested persons may register for training classes through a participating organization listed below. Each organization will address the overall medical cannabis licensing process and regulations as part of its curriculum.

One grant award to Uplift Maryland, LLC for Category II training (Medical Cannabis Business Operations)

Kevin Ford, Chief Executive Officer, Uplift Maryland (a minority-owned business organization)
